Drop Your Trousers

These will probably be showing up on all over "Fashion Don't" lists - but I love the dropped crotch trouser that we're seeing a lot of for Fall/Winter 2008.

Bigger is Better

Few trends are so comfortable to wear. Paired with a super skinny jeans or leggings and leather booties - the oversized top/dress makes looking good effortless (for those lucky enough to have the right body type for this look).

Designer Spotlight: Samantha Pleet

Brooklyn based designer Samantha Pleet debuted her namesake collection in 2006. Since then she has become known for her signature rompers which perfectly mix influences of 'centuries past and modern Brooklyn'.

Designer Spotlight: Complex Geometries

As the name suggests - Complex Geometries is anything but simple. This Montreal based label consistently produces unique (but wearable) designs that can often be worn in more than one way.

I especially love their loose fitting, beautifully draped tees, tunics and dresses.

Suggested Shopping: Nasty Gal

I want to like vintage shopping. I really do. But I don't deal well with having to spend hours and hours browsing for a hidden gem. I don't have the patience. I like well edited stores. So you can imagine my excitement when I found Nasty Gal Vintage on Ebay. Well, multiply that excitement by 100 and that's how I felt when Nasty Gal opened up their own online store, Shop Nasty Gal . This sassy boutique has a well stocked selection of vintage clothing, accessories and shoes, with absolutely no filler. If vintage isn't your thing - Nasty Gal is slowly introducing a 'new' section with up and coming young designers. And if spending money isn't your thing, at least visit the site to browse through all the perfectly styled photos - sure to be fashion inspiration for many designers to come.

Artist Spotlight: Jody Rogac

Vancouver based photographer Jody Rogac's shooting style is the antithesis of what is popular in urban fashion photography these days. Her work is clean, airy and soft. No harsh flash, obnoxious posing, gritty surroundings and clothes that are 'so bad they're good'. Shooting mostly with natural light and very often outdoors, her work has an air of serenity around it that is so refreshing.

Designer Spotlight: Ndeur

Customizing women's shoes...Remarkably, Parisian artist Matthieu Missiaen stumbled upon the idea by chance when he first moved to Toronto to brush up on his English skills. Hired to paint the outside of an indie boutique, the owner asked Missiaen to revamp a few pairs of women's heels on the side. When those few pairs of heels sold in record time, Missiaen knew he was onto something...and Ndeur was born.

Fast forward a couple of years and Missiaen is selling his wearable art all around the globe. And if his customized heels weren't treat enough - Missiaen is now also painting canvas Sneakers.

The formula: visit Ndeur's Etsy store, choose a design, send in your heels or sneakers, et voila - a totally customized pair of shoes that are guaranteed to rock your world.
