Akasha Rabut was born in California and raised on Kauai where she started dabbling in photography at the age of 15. She received a merit scholarship to the San Francisco Art Institute and graduated with a B.F.A in photography in 2007. Askasha currently lives and works professionally as a photographer in Chicago. She loves ambiguity, teenagers, vivid color and negative space - all of which are common themes to her work.
I am inexplicably drawn to film and photography that explores the transition between youth and adulthood - which is probably why I am such a big fan of New York based artist Olivia Malone. Olivia's work captures the fleeting freedom and newfound independence of real life subjects - artists, designers, It girls, musicians and friends.
Born and raised in Florida, as a young girl Julia Galdo had dreams of becoming a Marine Biologist. Her mother was president of the Greater Miami Shell Club, which gave Julia excuse to spend a great deal of time in the water doing weird stuff. Her love of the ocean pushed her to study science in college, until she made an unexpected jump to art school in her junior year. A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute - she has been fixed behind the camera lens since.
A couple of months ago I crossed paths with an incredibly talented artist, designer and social entrepreneur - Tytania Rose. A former Parsons and F.I.T. student, Tytania designs a modern and functional accessory line that is attracting the attention of many stylish women (including the lovely Dita von Teese).
