We've been with House of Spy since day one. Ten years ago, we stocked their first collection in our boutique. After all these years, we've never tired of them. I love each season more than the previous, and am always left with an unmanageable wish list.
Lately I have been drawn to exaggerated sculptured pieces. Unfortunately, often these pieces are structured to the point of being unwearable in day to day life. Stella Lee of Linus has struck a perfect balance of design and wearability in her Maria Skirt.
Thanks to my discovery of Dujour Magazine, I have almost kicked my glossy magazine habit. Goodbye to the days of pouring over fashion that is out of my price range or by designers I have little interest in. Goodbye to the days of guilt for amassing large stacks of glossy mags that will eventually end up in the recycling bin when moving day arrives.
Samantha Pleet is a favourite around here. The Spring Summer '09 collection still has that quirky girlish element to it that we've come to know and expect from Samantha, but it also embodies a lovely old fashioned elegance.
With the Rick Owen Boots out of my price range, my love for the MiniMarket Zipper boot has been reignited. The hidden wedge heel and thick industrial zipper are amazing.
Nomia, named after a water nymph in Greek mythology, is a New York based label designed by Yara Flinn. The Spring Summer '09 collection is on first glance very classic, but modern touches reveal themselves in the detailing.
