Bodkin Bio:
Bodkin is a women’s collection that brings to clothing the mission of architectural modernism: good, smart design. With comfort at its core, Bodkin creates urban essentials with modern silhouettes and wry detail—patchworking, carefully deployed asymmetry—that lends its simple shapes a subtle specialness. Bodkin favors a relaxed, understated, day-to-night sense of chic that reflects the personality of creative Brooklyn.

Each season, Bodkin seeks out the finest and most innovative sustainability-oriented fabrics in the world, from the best new technologies (such as post-consumer recycled polyester) to handloomed weaves from collectives in India, domestic organic cotton dyed by hand, and decades-old salvaged textiles. All pieces are made in the United States. Bodkin was named the inaugural recipient of the Ecco Domani Sustainable Design Award in 2009.

Designer Eviana Hartman is also a writer; she was the fashion features editor at NYLON, fashion writer at Vogue and Teen Vogue, and the founding columnist of EcoWise in The Washington Post. She collaborated with designer Wendy Mullin on the Sew U series of books, and has written for such publications as Dwell, I.D., Purple Fashion, VMan, Domino, and Wired. Her interest in sustainability began while studying under architect William McDonough, author of Cradle to Cradle. She is also a modern dancer and plays drums in the band Open Ocean.

A bodkin is a dagger, hairpin, or sharp, slender instrument used for making holes in cloth.
